How the framework can help you as a learning provider

The Framework helps employers, learners and the public in general to understand the full range of Scottish qualifications. It shows how they relate to each other and how they can contribute to improving skills and knowledge.

As a learning provider, you may be asked to explain the specific features, such as level and SCQF Credits, of the Framework and its benefits. Programme designers and writers of unit specifications will also need to know about the general level descriptors of the Framework. Following the establishment of a joint QAA/Universities Scotland/SQA working group, on behalf of the SCQF Development Partners, a consultation paper was issued on suggested templates for the headings to be used in the SCQF qualification descriptors (a generic description of the main qualifications in the Framework), and in an SCQF-wide common set of headings (descriptions of specific qualifications issued by particular awarding bodies).
