The Framework for Professional Statutory Bodies and Awarding Bodies (view diagram)

The Framework is being extended to recognise other qualifications and programmes of learning. This will include qualifications being developed on a UK-wide basis by public and professional statutory bodies and other organisations.

The SCQF is not a regulatory framework.

  • it facilitates the recognition of credit points and supports credit transfer and progression routes in the Scottish system
  • it seeks to help everyone involved in education and training in Scotland to make comparisons between qualifications offered in Scotland, and to understand how these relate to each other

Learners who are members of professional and statutory bodies will also be able to progress their careers by making use of the Framework's levels and SCQF credit points.
